The Cult of Lincoln

I can't believe I'll never be Smitty again. Last night was my last performance as Smitty, so I just have tonight left to be Nameless Secretary again. It's depressing. Oh well. At least I went out with a bang. All the JETS, my carpool, my advisory, and a lot of my other friends came. After "Cinderella Darling" they all shouted together "GO PRISCILLA!". Backstage, everyone teased me about bringing along my fanclub. At bows, they had a huge poster that said "Yay Priscilla". I couldn't read it from the stage, but I still felt fabulous.

I felt that I just nailed all my scenes. I loved the scene before "Paris Original", where I tell Rosemary that I'll probably be very popular at the party, because I'm starting a secret rumor that I'm a nymphomaniac. One of my favourites was the party on the roof, where I'm supposed to get incredibly drunk, then Bud Frump grabs me off the dance floor thinking that I'm Hedy (we're all wearing the same dress), he says "Come on Hedy, no more games. Come on, Hedy, J.B. wants me to take you--", then realizes who I am, then I say "Bud! You must have heard the rumor!". Previously, I just stopped it there, but this time, I threw my arms around Bud and acted like I was trying to kiss him. You should have seen that look of abject horror on his face. The audience loved it, and backstage afterwards everyone was cracking up.

I think I did really well in "Cinderella Darling". Afterwards, the girls were saying that it was the best we had ever done it, but I think opening night was a bit better. Opening night was just flawless. Yay! ::does a happy dance::

I talked to Joe (the guy who runs the slide projector) and Jeff (Finch) about the slide show, and this time they put the cart further away from the screen so that the images were much larger (in the past, they only used about 1/4 of the screen. This time they used about 3/4). Also, Jeff waited a bit longer between slides so that the audience could fully appreciate the hilarious images. It was far better than the previous nights! Yay!

The audience was fabulous. They cheered their lungs out and laughed at ALL the jokes! They even got the Metrecal line! And the "pros and cons" line! Wow! It was far better than last night, where the audience was dead.

Just one minor mishap: after bows, we're supposed to run up these oddly-spaced stairs in the pitch darkness to get outside to greet our adoring fans. I tripped and banged my knee really hard against one of the stairs. Then of course, someone tripped on me. It absolutely killed! I had to limp up the stairs. It hurt to even move. By the time I actually got to look at it (I was wearing a really long dress), it was swolen up terribly. When we went outside, I was leaning on Patrick (Mr. Gatch) for support. I couldn't move it last night, but I got an ice pack when I got home, and I feel better this morning. I can move it without it hurting very much, which is a pretty good thing because our last show is tonight. I just hope it doesn't look too swolen during "Paris Original" when we have those tiny dresses.

Oh well. Happy Cinco de Mayo! Happy Cartoonists Day! ::squeals::
