I love the knowledge that I can work in natural media now. It gives me so much more confidence! This evening, I was playing with a ruler I got at the BEST kickoff (they like to give us random Raytheon stuff. It's really cool.), and I realized that that I could take it apart and change out the little piece of paper advertizing Raytheon. I pulled the cover off and saw that the Raytheon ad was just two pieces of 12x1.5" paper, with printing on one side and a white back. I flipped the papers around and smiled at the potential niftiness that awaited me. Pencil and crayon, definitely. Now I just need to figure out how to print onto the paper slip things that came in the ruler, as whenever I try to use crayon on pencil, it gets messy and smeary and annoying. (I printed a duplicate when I went to color my
Men at Arms picture.) I suppose I could ink my sketch, but I really don't like strong outlines and frankly, I'm not very good at inking. I suppose I'll draw something, scan it in, and print it in two pieces, then glue the whole thing together. Or maybe I could make a photocopy and save myself the trouble. I'll have to see how well Xeroxes hold up under crayon.
If this is a success, I'll have to ask the other JETS if they kept their rulers. I don't see why they wouldn't. There were five of us, so that makes ten joyous pieces of art! Yay! Now I just need to figure out what to draw!
