The Cult of Lincoln

Time to recount my adventres yesterday! We started with Digital Imaging, in which we just looked at slides, then Multimedia Engineering, where we played with flangers and reverb and echoes and such. Did you know that flangers were supposedly invented by the Beatles? ::nods:: It was highly entertaining. Then lunch, which was nasty, and my voice lesson. Because I hadn't practiced all week, my voice was kind of pathetic, but by the end of the lesson, it was fine. Then, for the rest of Y-Period, I went to the computer lab to work on Ginny for the calendar. I attracted a sizeable number of people that watched me CG. Two Freshmen, Kristen and Tori, watched me nearly the whole time. It was very ego-boosting. Unfortunately, I was a moron and I forgot to put it on a zip disk before I left, so I'll have to work on someone else over the weekend. Next was English class. After more discussion over Martin Luther King's "Letter from the Birmingham Jail", we got to turn in our research papers. Everyone filed out the doors except me. Because I practically had no research, I didn't really have a Bibliography. Of course, it's not my fault that no one likes to write about the men in the Joy Luck Club. Mr. Dumaine chewed me out for a while, then I was finally able to leave.

I met Chungy in the science building and we drove off to the theatre to see Monsters Incorporated. When the trailers started, two guys a few rows in front of us shouted "Star Wars!" in response to a trailer for a "Peter Pan" sequel (god help us). After some stupidity, then amusement at the Ice Age trailer, the Harry Potter extended trailer met our eyes. Chungy and I squealed with delight. Sure, it irritates me that they're giving too much away in the trailer, but it doesn't feel like that when you're actually watching it. Muaha. Then, we got something none of us expected. A heavy breathing sound in the background, with a brief shot of a heavily made-up Natalie Portman. Then a futuristic city. Image after image of Star Wars-like glory, as Chungy and I sat hyperventilaring in our seats. Then the familiar John Williams music met our ears, and we squealed even more. When the "Episode II" logo flashed onto the screen, Chungy and I led the theatre in a round of frantic applause. None of my friends had any idea that the Episode II trailer was going to be tacked on to the beginning of "Monsters"!

Before the actual movie started, Pixar treated us to one of their famous shorts, which was incredibly entertaining. Then, the actual movie. It was absolutely hilarious, and I reccomend it highly. Three and a half Percys. Afterward, Chungy, Iana, and I went to dinner at Chick-Fil-A. On the ride over, we kept referring to the "Great American Movies" and generally mocking everything stereotypically American in sight. We started referring everything as the "Great American" this and that. I actually ordered "12-piece Great American nuggets" at Chick-Fil-A. It was highly amusing. Then Iana started talking about Russian comedy movies, which was fun. Chungy decided that for her 17th birthday, she would watch 17 rated-R movies. We started assembling a list, which turned out to be mostly either British movies or movies with British actors. I was entertained. Then Iana started complaining about how her boyfriend was going back to Bulgaria for the Christmas holiday, and she wasn't allowed to. Because boarding would be closed over Christmas, she needed somewhere to stay. I told her that she would probably be able to stay with me for part of the time, as we have a nifty guest house thing behind our house. That's where we have all our JETS parties and whatnot. Yayfun!

After dinner, we went to drive Iana back to Hockaday, and we were met with lots of amusing oldies songs, beginning with "Wild Thing". I took my hair down and rolled down the windows, and we all grooved and sang along to the bits we knew. Because of the rolled-down windows, my hair quickly became a huge fluffball, which reminded us of Nancy, because we would always do that when we were on our "JETS Night Out" outings. Iana, Chungy, and I decided that we had to have a Friday night tradition of dinner and a movie. Lotsa fun. Then, home again. Fun stuff. I love my friends.
